What Is the Ceiling Insulation Rebate in Canberra?

Eligible Canberra homeowners may be able to access generous government rebates and finance options to help reduce the cost of upgrading ceiling insulation, with House Insulation Canberra proudly recognised as an approved supplier.

Under the ACT Government’s Home Energy Support Program, eligible households can receive a rebate covering 50% of the installation cost of ceiling insulation, capped at $2,500. The upgraded insulation must achieve a minimum total R-value of R5.0.

The rebate is designed to help Canberra households improve home energy efficiency, reduce heating costs, and create healthier homes during the ACT’s cold winters and hot summers. Many older Canberra homes have insufficient ceiling insulation, making them expensive to heat and cool.

To qualify, homeowners need to:

  • Own and occupy the property
  • Hold an eligible concession or health care card
  • Use an approved insulation installer
  • Obtain electrical safety clearance before installation

The ACT Government also offers support through the Sustainable Household Scheme, which provides low-interest loans for eligible energy efficiency upgrades, including ceiling insulation.

Importantly, ACT regulations require an Electrical Safety Inspection Report before insulation installation begins. If electrical upgrades are needed, these works must usually be completed before the insulation rebate can proceed.

Since rebate eligibility criteria and funding programs can change, homeowners should always check the latest ACT Government guidelines or speak to our friendly team before proceeding.
